Welcome to the Unknown

These days, people like to measure. To count. To quantify. To shave milliseconds and stack miles. To push beyond what’s possible is important – It requires precision and organization, technology and engineering; it’s a game of tight corners, clear lines, and exacting fractions.

But when modern technology creates such extreme order and is allowed to drive so many of our decisions, a disorder can build in our spirits.

That’s why it’s important to get off track. To get to a place where performance is demanded, not coveted. To resist ego and tap into the unseen. To feed and sharpen our minds by challenging our bodies: Committing ourselves to a state of hyper-attention and intention on a trail or path with corners you can’t see beyond, let alone measure. It’s in these places where nature overruns civilization, where instinct is uncovered.

The fringes, where heavy breathing can lighten our minds, where we can escape the noise and tune into our own personal broadcast. Here’s where identity takes the back seat and our nature takes the wheel. It’s a primitive feeling that’s hard to find running in circles on red rubber.

So when you go to these places in search of these feelings, you might wonder what to carry with you. The gear doesn’t need to scream. It shouldn’t be slapped together, check marked, or ironed on. It should hum. It should be designed at a frequency that’s built to fit in with its natural surroundings. Less bravado. More substance.
